Participate in the "Energia su Misura" pilot

Sustainable energy depends also on the efficient use of energy on behalf of the consumers. However, even though a lot of effort has been spent to increase consumers' awareness, their awareness level is still very low as can be seen by the actual household energy consumption habits which still highlight very unefficient habits.

The low awareness levels is based on low awareness to environmental issues but also to the fact that the majority of consumers is not aware on the potential energy saving in his / her household by simply adopting energy efficient consumption habits. Within this scenario and building on the European Energy Efficiency Directive (EED 2012/27), initiatives posing consumers as active actors in the energy market have been launched in Italy.

A very promising approach is the use of direct feedback to consumers illustrating the actual energy consumption of the main appliances and of the overall household, in order to enable the consumers to have a clear picture of the energy use in the household.

Aisfor is collaborating with  R.S.E. in the pilot project "Energia su Misura" to provide vulnerable consumers with direct feedback on their household energy consumptions and customised tips on how to reduce their energy consumptions by adoping more efficient consumption habits.

To the consumers who express their interest in participating in the pilot, a "Energia su Misura" kit will be installed in their house made up of:

- intelligent plugs to the main appliances (indicatively 6 plugged to fridge, dish washer, washing machine, tumble dryer, television, computer, microwave oven, etc.) - the choice of the main appliances is made on a case-by-case analysis with the householder on the basis of the household energy consumption habits

- a monitoring tool connected directly to the household smart meter,

- a box containing several tools to collecting all the energy consumption data - from the smart meter and from the intelligent plugs (indicative dimension of 10cm * 20cm * 15cm).

The "Energia su Misura" system foresees the reading of the energy consumption data every 15 minutes which are then analysed by the team (through the internet interface of the system which collects all the energy consumption data) in order to define efficient energy consumption tips to be sent directly to the  householder. The energy consumption data will then be monitored after the sending of the direct feedback in order to verify if and how the energy tips ahve been taken into account and to determine new energy tips to send.

The household energy consumption monitoring process and sending of direct feedback to the householder will take place for about 2- 3 months and will enable to verify and demonstrate the impact of direct feedback to householders of their energy consumption habits.
